Open Humans Project Grants

Open Humans Foundation

About This Scheme

Supports individuals and teams with grants up to US$5000 (approx. ₹4.17 lakh) to develop projects that grow the Open Humans ecosystem through new data sources or exploration tools.

The Open Humans Project Grants program offers financial support to individuals and teams dedicated to enhancing the Open Humans ecosystem. This initiative aims to foster the development of innovative projects that facilitate new data contributions, enable novel ways to explore existing data, and ultimately grow the community of Open Humans members. Projects can range from developing new data source integrations (e.g., time tracking apps, sleep data, continuous glucose monitors, social media APIs, Google Takeout data) to creating impactful data reports, visualizations, and tools for health history or psychological profiling. The program emphasizes enabling members to connect diverse personal data streams and gain deeper insights, contributing to a richer, more comprehensive personal data environment. Open Humans champions open science and personal data empowerment, and these grants are designed to support creators whose work aligns with this mission.

Benefits

  • The Open Humans Project Grants provide up to US$5000 (approximately ₹4.17 lakh) in non-repayable funding.
  • This grant is designed to support the development and deployment of projects that contribute to the Open Humans ecosystem.
  • The funding is disbursed in three tranches: one-third upon grant award, one-third upon successful project deployment on Open Humans, and the final one-third after the project has remained available and responsive for six months post-deployment.
  • Beyond financial support, awardees gain visibility within the Open Humans community and access to a supportive network through the Slack chatroom for advice and collaboration.
  • The program encourages open-source development, enabling projects to benefit the broader community and serve as foundations for future innovations.
