SINE ACE Semiconductors Accelerator

SINE, IIT Bombay

About This Scheme

SINE IIT Bombay's DeepTech accelerator for semiconductor startups, offering up to ₹5 crore equity investment, fab access, corporate pilots, and tailored mentorship.

The SINE ACE (Acceleration through Collaborative Engagement) program is SINE IIT Bombay's premier industry-centric DeepTech accelerator, specifically designed for groundbreaking startups in the semiconductor and semiconductor-adjacent sectors. Recognizing the unique challenges of deep tech development, ACE aims to bridge the gap between innovation and market readiness by immersing founders in a highly collaborative ecosystem. The program's core philosophy is to place entrepreneurs directly with the established corporations, investors, and institutions that are actively shaping the future of semiconductors in India and globally.

This accelerator is not just about funding; it's a comprehensive support system tailored to the complex journey of semiconductor product development. From initial working silicon to securing the first customer, ACE provides critical resources that accelerate time-to-market. Participants gain unparalleled access to pilot opportunities with leading industry partners, specialized fab access and credits at IIT Bombay's state-of-the-art labs, and connections to investors who deeply understand the long development cycles and tape-out timelines inherent in semiconductor innovation. Through bespoke mentoring and strategic partnerships, SINE ACE is committed to nurturing the next generation of DeepTech leaders and fostering a robust semiconductor ecosystem within India. The program is structured to guide startups through the intricate phases of product validation, manufacturing, and investor engagement, ultimately empowering them to bring their advanced technologies to commercial fruition.

How to Apply

Selection Process

  • The selection process for the SINE ACE accelerator is rigorous and multi-faceted, designed to identify high-potential DeepTech startups in the semiconductor sector.
  • Applications are first screened for fundamental eligibility criteria, including company incorporation status, Indian promoter shareholding, DPIIT registration, and adherence to the minimum TRL 4+ requirement, ensuring a working prototype exists.
  • Startups with an idea-stage concept or those already commercially scaled beyond Series A are disqualified.
  • Following initial screening, eligible applications undergo a thorough technical and business evaluation by a panel of experts from SINE, IIT Bombay faculty, and industry specialists.
  • This assessment focuses on the innovation of the semiconductor product, its market viability, the robustness of the business model, and the complementary skills within the founding team.
  • Shortlisted companies are then invited for multiple rounds of interviews, allowing the selection committee to gain deeper insights into the startup's vision, execution capabilities, and potential for growth.
  • A key aspect of the evaluation is the startup's ability and willingness to engage in pilot programs with corporate partners, including disclosure and signing NDAs. The final decision involves presentations to a high-level selection committee, which includes representatives from SINE, IIT Bombay, industry partners, and the Y-Point venture capital fund.
  • The committee’s decision is heavily influenced by the startup's potential for successful corporate pilots, its alignment with investor interests, and its overall fit within the ACE program's collaborative DeepTech ecosystem.
