TDP Call for Proposal 2026 (11)

TIH IIT Bombay

About This Scheme

TIH IIT Bombay invites proposals from academic and research institutions for IoT technology development and commercialization with grant support up to ₹50 Lakhs.

The Technology Innovation Hub (TIH-IoT) at IIT Bombay is dedicated to fostering the commercialization of cutting-edge technologies and bridging the critical gap between academia and industry, with a specific focus on leveraging the transformative potential of the Internet of Things (IoT). Through its Technology Development Vertical, TIH-IoT issues calls for proposals to support the advancement of IoT-related applications.

This particular call, TDP Call for Proposal 2026 (11), seeks proposals from faculty and researchers affiliated with academic and research institutions across India. The primary objective is to facilitate the development and refinement of innovative applications that harness IoT technologies. The program is specifically designed to support promising product prototypes or concepts that have progressed beyond the early research phases, requiring a Technology Readiness Level (TRL) of 6 or higher. This ensures that the funded projects are closer to real-world applicability and market entry.

A key aspect of this initiative is to encourage strong collaboration between academia and industry. While not strictly mandatory, it is highly desirable for applicants to have already identified an industry partner. Such partnerships are crucial for facilitating real-world deployment, robust technology validation, and accelerating the commercialization pathway of the developed solutions. By supporting these advanced-stage projects, TIH-IoT aims to drive innovation, create tangible products, and contribute significantly to India's technological landscape in various critical sectors.

Benefits

  • This program offers a project grant up to ₹50 Lakhs for a duration of up to 12 months, aimed at supporting the development and advancement of IoT applications.
  • Beyond financial assistance, the program provides crucial support for the commercialization of the developed technology, helping bridge the gap between academic research and market deployment.
  • Participants also benefit from potential networking opportunities, especially with identified industry partners, facilitating real-world validation.
  • A unique aspect is the joint ownership of Intellectual Property (IP) rights generated from the project, ensuring that both the grantee institution and TIH-IoT share the benefits and responsibilities of innovation.
