Tamil Nadu, one of India's most vibrant tourism destinations, welcomed 286 million domestic tourists and 1.17 million foreign visitors in 2023. Leveraging this immense potential, the Tamil Nadu Tourism Innovation Challenge 2026 is an initiative by Tamil Nadu Tourism and StartupTN to foster innovation in the sector. This challenge aims to transform opportunities into actionable solutions by bringing together creators, technologists, and startup founders.

The core purpose of the challenge is to reimagine and enhance how the world experiences Tamil Nadu, developing a future-ready tourism ecosystem. It targets boosting tourism-focused startups with innovative products and services, solving real sector challenges using technology and new business models, and attracting fresh talent into the tourism and culture ecosystem. Furthermore, a key goal is to strengthen strategic partnerships between government bodies, industry players, and emerging innovators. Participants are encouraged to explore tech-driven, sustainable, and scalable solutions across diverse themes like Culinary Tourism, Agri-Tourism & Rural Experiences, Heritage & Culture Tourism, Eco & Adventure Tourism, Digital Tourism, and other tourism-related innovations.
