Sikkim Patent Registration Incentive

Reimbursement of patent filing costs up to INR 2 lakh (domestic) or INR 10 lakh (international) for registered companies.

The Sikkim Industrial and Investment Policy 2024 reimburses registered companies for the actual cost of filing patents — up to INR 2 lakh for a domestic patent and up to INR 10 lakh for an international patent, provided the patent is filed or granted within the policy period. Eligible expenses include filing fees paid to the patent office, attorney fees, search fees and maintenance fees. Up to 75% of the eligible expense (or 75% of the ceiling) is reimbursed once the patent is filed, with the balance 25% released after grant; alternatively a company may claim 100% of eligible costs after the patent is granted. A single company can claim a maximum of five reimbursements, domestic or international, during the policy period.
