PMFME Branding & Marketing Support

Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI)

About This Scheme

PMFME covers 50% of branding and marketing expenditure for FPO, SHG, cooperative and SPV groups selling ODOP products.

Clause 7.3 of the PMFME Scheme guidelines provides branding and marketing support limited to 50% of the total expenditure, with the maximum limit of grant in such cases being as prescribed.

It is aimed at groups of FPOs, SHGs and cooperatives, or an SPV of micro food processing enterprises, marketing One District One Product (ODOP) products. Typical eligible spend covers developing a common brand, packaging design, labelling, and the marketing push behind a district's signature product — the part of going to market that a single micro unit can rarely fund alone.

Benefits

  • Half of what your group spends on branding and marketing its ODOP products is borne by the scheme, with the maximum grant as prescribed.
  • In practice this funds the things a common brand needs to exist at all — brand identity, packaging and labelling, and the campaign to put a district's signature food product in front of buyers.
  • Support is at group level, so the cost of a shared brand is split between the members and the scheme rather than sitting on one micro unit.
