PMMSY support of ₹8,000–12,000 per unit for mussel, clam and pearl oyster cultivation.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), the Department of Fisheries supports bivalve cultivation — mussels, clams, pearl oysters and similar species (item 2.7 of the scheme's mariculture activity list).
The benchmarked unit cost is ₹0.20 lakh per unit. Government assistance is ₹0.08 lakh (₹8,000) per unit for a general beneficiary and ₹0.12 lakh (₹12,000) per unit for an SC/ST/Women beneficiary, with the balance contributed by the beneficiary. It is a low-capital entry point into coastal mariculture, well suited to fisher households and SHGs already working the estuary or backwater.
Proposals are made through the State/UT Fisheries Department.
