J&K Tourism Capital Investment Incentive

Industries & Commerce Department, Government of Jammu & Kashmir

About This Scheme

J&K Tourism Policy 2020 sanctions an incentive at 15% of eligible capital investment for tourism units in Category B and C areas.

Under the monetary benefits of the Jammu & Kashmir Tourism Policy – 2020, tourism units and projects located in Category B (less commercialised) and Category C (remote) areas can claim an incentive of 15% of their eligible capital investment.

The maximum limit on the sanction is decided by the Tourism department — the policy fixes only the percentage, not a rupee ceiling. The intent is to push tourism investment away from Category A highly commercialised tourist spots and towards less developed and remote parts of the UT.

The incentive is only for units not already covered under the incentives provided under the J&K Industrial promotion policy, so a project cannot claim capital investment support under both regimes.

Benefits

  • You get an incentive sanctioned at 15% of the eligible capital investment made in your tourism unit or project, provided it falls in a Category B (less commercialised) or Category C (remote) area.
  • The maximum limit of the sanction is decided by the Tourism department, and the policy states no rupee ceiling of its own.
  • Units already receiving incentives under the J&K Industrial promotion policy are excluded, so this is aimed at tourism projects outside that regime.
