IIM Calcutta Innovation Park
IDFC FIRST Bank and IIM Calcutta Innovation Park support 16 impact-driven startups building sustainable environmental solutions with grants up to ₹25 lakhs and 9 months of structured incubation.
The IGNITE Incubation Programme, a collaborative initiative by IIM Calcutta Innovation Park (IIMCIP) and IDFC FIRST Bank, aims to back bold startups dedicated to building smart environmental solutions. This flagship social innovation program is designed to support enterprises that develop innovative solutions to address pressing environmental challenges while simultaneously creating sustainable livelihood opportunities.
The programme focuses on critical sectors including green manufacturing, which emphasizes energy-efficient, low-carbon, and resource-optimized production processes. It also strongly supports recycling and upcycling initiatives, enabling the transformation of agricultural, industrial, and consumer waste into value-added products. Furthermore, IGNITE encompasses clean technologies, covering areas such as renewable energy, water and wastewater management, air quality improvement, and climate-resilient innovations.
A key aspect of the program is the promotion of responsible utilization of local and indigenous resources. It encourages enterprises to leverage regional raw materials, traditional knowledge, and local expertise to develop scalable, market-ready, and environmentally sustainable products and services. These focus areas have been strategically identified to tackle emerging environmental and developmental challenges stemming from rapid urbanization, evolving consumption patterns, and insufficient waste management systems. Through this comprehensive and integrated approach, the IGNITE program seeks to make significant contributions to environmental conservation, resource efficiency, climate resilience, inclusive economic growth, and sustainable industrial development.
IIM Calcutta Innovation Park, acting as the primary implementation partner, brings extensive experience in startup incubation and ecosystem development. IIMCIP is responsible for leading the end-to-end implementation of the program, which includes startup outreach, rigorous application screening, evaluation, and the final selection of high-potential ventures that demonstrate scalable and sustainable business models.
