Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2026

About This Scheme

Status: upcoming. Smart India Hackathon (SIH) is a nationwide initiative by the Government of India, run by the Ministry of Education and AICTE, that engages student teams from higher education institutes to develop innovative solutions to problem statements posed by government ministries/departments and industry.

Eligibility Criteria

  • students enrolled in regular courses at higher education institutes (HEIs)
  • Team of 6 members including team leader, with at least one female member
  • Nomination via College SPOC login on sih.gov.in required

Benefits

  • National student hackathon
  • winning teams in each problem statement receive cash prize money (INR 1.5 lakh per team per category, per official SIH FAQ page, SIH 2026 cycle).

How to Apply

  • Applications accepted in fixed cohorts/windows, not rolling
  • SIH 2026 problem statements were launched August 25, 2026
