Technology Development Board (TDB) Funding for Startups

Technology Development Board (TDB), Department of Science and Technology

About This Scheme

Status: active. A statutory body under the Technology Development Board Act, 1995, that funds development and commercialization of indigenous technology. For DPIIT-registered startups with project cost up to Rs 5 crore and technology at TRL>6, TDB funds up to 70% of project cost. Funding modes include soft loans (5% simple annual interest), equity (up to 25% of project cost) and grants in select cases.

Eligibility Criteria

  • DPIIT-recognized startups incorporated under Companies Act, 1956/2013
  • Eligible stage: growth
  • Technology must be at Technology Readiness Level (TRL) greater than 6, i.e. ready for commercialization

Benefits

DPIIT-registered startups with technology at TRL>6 can receive funding of up to 70% of project cost (up to Rs 3.5 crore for a Rs 5 crore project) via soft loan, equity or grant instruments from TDB.

How to Apply

  • Applications accepted on a rolling basis
  • General TDB funding is accepted on an ongoing basis via project proposals
