About This Scheme

A 30-hour hackathon across 6 Indian cities by Code for India — ₹18 Lakh prize pool, open to all.

Azaadi Hackathon 2026 is a 30-hour national hackathon organised by Code for India, taking place on August 14–15, 2026. The event is held simultaneously across 6 cities in India, bringing together developers, designers, and innovators to build solutions for real-world challenges.

Who Should Apply Open to students, professionals, and startup teams from across India. No prior hackathon experience required — all skill levels welcome.

Format & Timeline The hackathon runs for 30 hours, starting on August 14 and ending on August 15. Participants can join from any of the 6 host cities. Teams will work on projects, with judging and winners announced at the end of the event.

Prizes Total prize pool of ₹18,00,000. The top prize is ₹1,50,000. Additional prizes for runners-up and special categories may be announced closer to the event.

Eligibility Open to all Indian participants. No team size restrictions mentioned — solo participants and teams both welcome.

About the Organiser Code for India is a community-driven organisation that runs hackathons and coding events across India, focused on fostering innovation and problem-solving through technology.

How to Apply Registration is open until August 14, 2026. Apply via the official Internshala competition page linked above.

Benefits

  • Cash prizes are awarded per city at the end of the 30-hour build: in each of the six host cities, the winning team takes ₹1,50,000, second place ₹1,00,000, and third place ₹50,000, for a combined ₹18,00,000 prize pool across all cities.
  • Sponsor awards and incubation opportunities are also on offer.
  • Beyond cash, selected teams move into open-source incubation and pilots from September 2026 onwards.
  • Participants build using the CodeNOW IDE with AI coding-agent credits and integrate xSpan CareHub APIs, with projects released under open-source licenses so NGOs and government health bodies can adopt them.
