BioNEST - Bioincubators Nurturing Entrepreneurship for Scaling Technologies

Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC)

About This Scheme

Status: recurring. BIRAC scheme funding the establishment and strengthening of bio-incubators to provide biotech startups with physical infrastructure, specialized equipment, business/legal/IP mentorship and networking. Funding is grant-in-aid for capital and operational expenses provided to the incubator, not directly to individual startups. BIRAC has supported 73 bio-incubators covering over 1 million sq. ft. of incubation space.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Organizations/academic institutions setting up a bio-incubator
  • Funding is to the incubating institution, not directly to individual startups

Benefits

  • Grant-in-aid for capital and operational expenses to establish or strengthen bio-incubators, which in turn host and support biotech startups
  • funding amount for each incubator is assessed case-by-case by the BioNEST committee.

  • Applications accepted in fixed cohorts/windows, not rolling
  • Periodic calls for proposals
