SPARSH - Social Innovation Programme for Products: Affordable & Relevant to Societal Health

About This Scheme

Status: recurring. BIRAC scheme supporting social innovations that address societal health needs, offering both project grants (Category A/B) for product/technology development and a fellowship track (SPARSH Social Innovator Fellowship) for young innovators from life sciences, engineering, medicine and allied fields.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Individual innovators
  • startups/organizations developing affordable health products
  • Eligible stage: idea
  • Eligible stage: early stage
  • Fellowship track open to Indian citizens under 35 with UG/PG/PhD qualifications in life sciences, agriculture, engineering, medicine or human biology

Benefits

  • Grant-in-aid up to Rs 50 lakh (18-24 months) for health-focused social innovation projects
  • separately, a fellowship of Rs 35,000-50,000/month for 18 months plus a one-time Rs 5 lakh mini-kickstart grant for individual social innovators under 35.
