PMMSY: Inputs for Saline /Alkaline Water Aquaculture - Haryana

Fisheries Department, Government of Haryana

About This Scheme

This centrally sponsored scheme provides input cost subsidies for saline/alkaline water aquaculture in newly created water bodies for fish and shrimp culture in Haryana.

The Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY): Inputs for Saline/Alkaline Water Aquaculture in Haryana is a pivotal initiative by the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Government of India. This centrally sponsored scheme is designed to bolster the aquaculture sector by providing critical input cost subsidies for developing saline and alkaline water bodies. Targeting the state of Haryana, the program aims to foster sustainable fish and shrimp culture by alleviating the initial financial burden on entrepreneurs and farmers. By jointly funding 50% from the Central Government and 50% from the State Government, the scheme underscores a collaborative approach to agricultural development. It is specifically tailored to support the input costs for the very first crop in newly established ponds and tanks, ensuring a strong start for new aquaculture ventures. This strategic support is crucial for expanding the blue economy and enhancing livelihoods in regions suitable for saline/alkaline water aquaculture.

Benefits

  • The scheme offers significant financial relief through an input cost subsidy, directly reducing the initial burden for aquaculture entrepreneurs.
  • The total project cost is capped at ₹6,00,000 per hectare.
  • Beneficiaries under the General Category are eligible for a subsidy covering 40% of the project cost, amounting to ₹2,40,000 per hectare.
  • To promote inclusive growth and empower specific demographics, beneficiaries belonging to the Scheduled Castes (SC) and Women categories receive an enhanced subsidy of 60% of the project cost, totaling ₹3,60,000 per hectare.
  • This financial support is crucial for setting up and initiating the first crop in new saline/alkaline water aquaculture ponds and tanks, ensuring viability and encouraging new entrants into the sector.
