Sona Comstar IIT Delhi Innovation Program (SCIDIP)

FITT, IIT Delhi

About This Scheme

A corporate-backed incubation program offering up to ₹80 Lakhs in grant funding to AI and DeepTech startups innovating in electric mobility, advanced batteries, Industry 4.0, and sustainable mobility solutions.

The Sona Comstar IIT Delhi Innovation Program (SCIDIP) is a strategic initiative designed to foster and accelerate innovative solutions within the Electric Mobility, Advanced Batteries, Industry 4.0, Advanced Materials, Charging Infrastructure, and Sustainable Mobility sectors. This program is a collaboration between Sona Comstar, a leading automotive technology company, and FITT (Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer) at IIT Delhi, aiming to leverage deep technological expertise and industrial insights to support promising startups. The core objective is to identify and nurture disruptive ideas that can significantly impact the future of travel and industrial applications, moving beyond existing solutions.

SCIDIP specifically targets concepts and ideas with strong intellectual property potential and clear translational or commercial prospects. It provides a robust platform for startups to validate their proof of concept and generate the necessary scientific and technical data to de-risk their technologies, making them more attractive to future investors and funding programs. Beyond financial support, the program immerses startups into the rich innovation ecosystem of IIT Delhi, offering unparalleled access to academic expertise, state-of-the-art laboratory infrastructure, and a network of industry experts. It aims to bridge the gap between cutting-edge research and market-ready solutions, thereby contributing to India's technological advancements in critical sectors.

Benefits

  • The program offers significant financial support in the form of a grant-in-aid of up to ₹80 Lakhs per startup, disbursed in multiple tranches based on the achievement of pre-defined milestones over a 24-month incubation period.
  • This non-dilutive funding is intended to cover essential project costs including equipment, human resources, consumables, contingency, outsourcing, and patent filing fees.
  • Beyond funding, selected startups receive comprehensive incubation support, including physical incubation space and facilities as per IIT Delhi norms.
  • Entrepreneurs benefit from technical advice and mentorship from IIT Delhi faculties, who can serve as scientific advisors.
  • FITT organizes periodic events for learning, visibility, and networking, alongside business mentorship programs and workshops to refine business plans and market strategies.
  • Additionally, the FITT IP Cell provides assistance with IP-related services, and innovators gain crucial connections to FITT's network of investors and VCs, facilitating future fundraising efforts.
