About This Scheme

40%–60% capital subsidy for fisheries, aquaculture and marine infrastructure ₹20,050 crore flagship scheme for the fisheries sector (2020–26). Subsidy: 40% of project cost for General category; 60% for SC/ST/Women. Covers: aquaculture ponds, biofloc units, hatcheries, brood banks, cage culture, seaweed farming, fishing vessels, cold chain, ice plants, fish feed mills, fish processing & value-addition, retail fish kiosks.

Benefits

  • PMMSY provides capital subsidies of 40% of project cost for General category beneficiaries and 60% for SC/ST/Women beneficiaries for a wide range of fisheries activities — from aquaculture ponds, biofloc units, hatcheries, and cage culture to fishing vessels, cold chain infrastructure, fish feed mills, and retail fish kiosks.
  • The subsidy is non-repayable and no equity is taken.
  • The scheme also supports seaweed farming and fish processing and value-addition units.
  • Beneficiaries contribute the remaining share of project cost, typically through bank loans or own funds under the overall ₹20,050 crore national programme (2020–26).
