The D.F. McKenzie Award, funded by friends, colleagues, and students of the late Professor Emeritus Don McKenzie, honors his achievements as a scholar and teacher. It is open to MA or PhD students at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington in disciplines closely associated with McKenzie, including English, Film and Theatre, Media Studies, Music, Information Management, History, Art History, Māori Studies, and Anthropology. Kenzie Award: Applicants must be enrolled in an MA or PhD at Victoria University of Wellington in one of the following disciplines: English, Film and Theatre, Media Studies, Music, Information Management, History, Art History, Māori Studies, or Anthropology.

Selection Criteria

The award is based on the merits of the application, with preference given to students whose research aligns with Don McKenzie’s areas of interest, including bibliography and book history, libraries and librarianship, theatre history, Renaissance and 18th-century drama, New Zealand theatre, and New Zealand music.
