Eligibility Criteria for Graduate Research Excellence Scholarship

• Applicants must: Be new or first-year graduate research students at Monash University Malaysia.
• Hold or be offered admission to a research master’s or doctoral programme.
• Have at least a First Class Honours (H1) or equivalent qualification.
• Meet the university’s academic and English language entry requirements.
• Demonstrate strong academic record, research output, or prior research experience.
• Not have already completed a research degree at the same level.
• Obtain approval if receiving external sponsorship or funding.

Value of Graduate Research Excellence Scholarship

• Full tuition fee waiver.
• Monthly stipend of MYR 2,950 (in 2026).
• Research master’s support for up to 2 years (full-time equivalent).
• Doctoral support for up to 3.5 years (or until thesis submission, whichever comes earlier).
• Additional requirement to contribute up to 240 hours/year in academic or research support activities.

Application Process

No separate scholarship application for new students. Current students may apply within their first year using a separate internal form.
