The National Defence Fund's Prime Minister's Scholarship Scheme (PMSS) was established in the academic year 2006–07 to promote higher technical and professional education for dependent wards & widows of personnel serving in the Assam Rifles and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs & AR). This program has been further expanded for dependent wards of State/UT police personnel who die in terrorist or naxal acts as of the 2019–20 school year.

Eligibility Criteria for Prime Minister's Scholarship Scheme for Wards of States/UTs Police Personnel 2026

A) For CAPFs & Assam Rifles: Wards/widows of deceased C. Wards/widows of retired and serving CAPFs & AR Personnel.
(Personnel below Officer Rank).
Having a minimum of 60% marks in Minimum Entry Qualification i.e. 10+2/Diploma/Graduation or equivalent in case of a new applicant.
A grace period of one year only for cases, where there is a delay on the part of the candidate for application submission for renewal of scholarship may be entertained.
Students who are pursuing their first professional degree program in the fields of Engineering, Medicine, Dental, Veterinary, BBA, BCA, B. Pharma, B.SC (Nursing, Agriculture, etc.), MBA and MCA, etc. by the guidelines.
B) For State Police Forces: Students who are p
