Scholarship value: Partial Funding, Varies With the intention of teaching or assisting students with learning and behavioral disorders in special education, the goal of this scholarship is to support graduate students who meet the requirements and are pursuing an M.Ed. or PhD in the Department of Educational Psychology and Special Education at the GSU College of Education. Money will be given out on a semester-by-semester basis, provided the grantee fulfills the degree program's academic requirements. For two years, applicants pursuing the M.Ed. degree are eligible to receive $1,000 for each academic year. For two years, applicants seeking a Ph.D. are entitled to receive $1,500 every academic year.

Eligibility for the Glenn A. Vergason Scholarship for Special Education at Georgia State University

  • For the scholarship, applicants must send in a letter of application.
  • Applicants should provide two recommendation letters: one from their employer or supervisor and one from a college instructor.
  • The applicant must provide a statement outlining their intended course of study, sources of funding, and estimated expenses (i.e., a schedule of classes to be taken each semester, an estimate of expenditures, and the financial aid available to finish the degree).
