The Higher Education Department of the Government of Odisha has launched the Gopabandhu Sikhya Sahayata Yojana, Odisha, for students pursuing UG/PG, technical, professional, and non-professional courses from a recognized state institution. The program seeks to give economically disadvantaged and marginalized families financial support so they can pursue higher education. INR 20,000 in annual financial aid will be given to the chosen pupils. Eligibility Criteria for Gopabandhu Sikhya Sahayata Yojana, Odisha 2026: Students need to have a domicile in Odisha. Students should be enrolled in a graduate, postgraduate, or any other professional course in a government-recognized institution or institution set up by the statute of the union or state government. Students should belong to one of the following categories: families impacted by HIV/AIDS homeless households' family begging or destitute families manual scavenger families particularly vulnerable tribal groups legally emancipated bonded laborers' family families led by a single mother, be it through widowhood, divorce, or being unmarried specially cared child (orphan children without any biological or adoptive or legal parents) Students belonging to the transgender community girl student rescued from child marriage by the Department of Women and Child Develo

Eligibility

For Gopabandhu Sikhya Sahayata Yojana, Odisha 2026

  • Students need to have a domicile in Odisha.
  • Students should be enrolled in a graduate, postgraduate, or any other professional course in a government-recognized institution or institution set up by the statute of the union or state government.

Students should belong to one of the following categories

  • families impacted by HIV/AIDS homeless households' family begging or destitute families manual scavenger families particularly vulnerable tribal groups legally emancipated bonded laborers' family families led by a single mother, be it through widowhood, divorce, or being unmarried specially cared child (orphan children without any biological or adoptive or legal parents)
  • Students belonging to the transgender community girl student rescued from child marriage by the Department of Women and Child Development and continues to stay in a shelter home for rehabilitation or hostel
  • Students should have an annual family income of not more than INR 2,50,000 from all sources

How to Apply

Students need to submit an application form ONLINE only.

  • Family income certificate issued by the competent authority i.e. the Revenue Officer (RO) not below the rank of Tahasildar or Additional Tahasildar
  • HIV/AIDS medical certificate from the concerned medical officer (if applicable)
  • Homeless certificate from a competent revenue authority(if applicable)
  • Single mother status certificate from District Social Welfare Officer (if applicable)
  • Destitute status certificate from the local Sarpanch/Urban Local Body Authority (if applicable)
  • Manual scavenger status certificate (if applicable)
  • Particularly vulnerable tribal certificate from the District Welfare Officer (if applicable)
  • Legally released bonded laborer certificate from the District Welfare Officer/District Labour Officer/any competent authority (if applicable)
  • Specially cared child certificate (orphan) from the District Protection Officer (if applicable)
  • Transgender certificate issued from the National Portal of Transgender Persons (if applicable)
  • Certificate from the District Social Welfare Officer regarding the girl student rescued from child marriage and her stay in a rehabilitation home as part of her rehabilitation (if applicable)
  • Student's bank passbook showing bank details
  • Proof of age such as an Aadhaar card, Birth certificate, Matriculation certificate, etc.
