The Gene J. Bertoncini Music Annual Scholarship was established in honor of William Paterson faculty member Gene J. Bertoncini, “The Segovia of Jazz,” for a full-time undergraduate or graduate student who is majoring in music education, jazz studies, or music performance.

• Eligibility Criteria for the Gene J. Bertoncini Music Annual Scholarship: Applicants can be of any nationality.
• Applicants can be either undergraduates or graduates, majoring in Music.
• Applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point average 3.0.
• Applicants must demonstrate financial need (not necessarily as defined by the federal government).
• Preference is given to guitarists.

Selection Process

The recipient of this scholarship is selected by the Department of Music. Recipient(s) will be selected based on musical talent, academic success, and financial need.
