The Martin Lynn Scholarship supports historical research in African history in memory of Professor Martin Lynn, a leading scholar in West African history.

Eligibility criteria for the Martin Lynn Scholarship

  • Applicants must: Be a member of the Royal Historical Society (RHS) at the time of application.
  • Be postgraduate researchers working on topics in African history.
  • Be undertaking research that is clearly and predominantly historical in nature, with a defined chronological focus.
  • Submit applications at least 4 weeks in advance of the proposed research activity.
  • Not have been previous recipients of the Martin Lynn Scholarship.
  • Submit proposals for upcoming research only; retroactive funding is not permitted
