The CRI Irvington Postdoctoral Fellowship Program supports qualified young scientists at leading universities and research centers around the world who wish to receive training in cancer immunology.

Eligibility Criteria for Cancer Research Institute Irvington Postdoctoral Fellowship 2026

  • Hold a doctoral degree by the date of award activation.
  • Conduct research under a sponsor with a formal appointment of assistant professor or higher at a non-profit host institution.
  • Be working in areas directly related to immunology or cancer immunology; the project must have relevance to cancer.
  • Have fewer than 5 years of mentored research experience at the time of award activation (excluding M.D. residency).
  • Applicants who have already spent 3+ years in a sponsor’s lab are only eligible in exceptional circumstances.
  • Submit only one application per sponsor per round; faculty sponsors may not have more than 3 CRI-supported fellows at any time.
  • Fellows can be any nationality and conduct research in the U.S. or abroad at a non-profit institution.
  • Resubmissions are allowed if the new application demonstrates progress and improvements.

Three years of funding, including annual stipends

  • Year 1: $74,000
  • Year 2: $76,000
  • Year 3: $78,000
  • Host institution allowance: $5,000 per year for research supplies, conference travel, health insurance, or childcare.
  • Coverage is full, with no deductions for administrative overhead.
  • Additional support: CRI Bioinformatics Bootcamp participation.
