Scholarship value: Full Funding, Salary + up to GBP 400,000 for research expenses Wellcome Early-Career Awards support early-career researchers in developing their research identity and leadership skills.

Eligibility for the Wellcome Early-Career Awards

• Applicants must: Be early-career researchers ready to lead innovative health-related research.
• Hold a PhD (viva passed) or have 4+ years of equivalent research experience.
• Have ≤3 years postdoctoral experience (exceptions for breaks/part-time).
• Demonstrate strong research skills and project delivery.
• Commit ≥80% research time to the project (up to 40% clinical duties for clinicians).
• Be based at an eligible UK, Ireland, or low-/middle-income (excl.
• India/China) organization.
• Have the award administered by a not-for-profit institution.
• Not hold a tenured salaried post during the award (except in eligible countries).
• Not have pending or hold equivalent early-career awards.
• Conduct research aligned with Wellcome Discovery Research priorities.

Benefits of the Wellcome Early-Career Awards

Successful applicants will get a salary and up to £400,000 for research expenses. Certain costs do not count towards the £400,000 research expenses limit.
