Students The Thomas Walker Scholarship was established in memory of Thomas Walker (BEng 1931, MEng 1933) through a generous legacy from his late wife, Mrs. Daisy Eveline Walker. This scholarship is designed to assist mature students who wish to return to education and pursue a degree in the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at the University of Sheffield. Eligibility To qualify for the Thomas Walker Scholarship, applicants must: Be classified as a mature student, defined by the University as anyone over the age of 21 at the time of entry. Be starting an undergraduate degree in the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering in September 2025. Preference will be given to applicants who have dependants and/or caring responsibilities. Application Process Interested candidates should apply by contacting the School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering to discuss their eligibility. The application deadline for students starting in September 2025 is 27th June 2025, with applicants notified of the outcome by 12th September 2025. Benefits and Value The Thomas Walker Scholarship offers a stipend of £3,000 per year, provided for each year of the degree programme. This financial support aims to ease the return to education for mature students, particularly those with additional responsibilities.
