To be eligible, an applicant must

be an Indian citizen/Overseas citizen of India (OCI) be holding a Ph.D. degree from a recognised university (candidates who have submitted their thesis and are awaiting the degree conferral are also eligible, but if selected, their fellowship amount will be lower until the degree is awarded) be below 35 years of age at the application

Note

• 5 years age relaxation is available for SC, ST, OBC and Physically Challenged and women candidates.
• The fellowship can only be received once in a candidate's career.
• Independent researchers without an institutional affiliation and students currently enrolled in UG or PG programs are not eligible.

The selected candidates will receive the following benefits

• A monthly stipend of ₹1,00,000
• A contingency grant of ₹2,00,000 per annum
• A conference travel and publishing costs of ₹1,00,000 per annum

• -
• PI or Co-PI salaries/honorariums are NOT supported.
• The contingency grant will be used only for small pieces of equipment and research supplies.
• The contingency grant is not meant for hiring research assistants or other staff.
• The fellowship is designed for the researcher to work independently on their project throughout its duration.
