Overview

Eligibility

• Eligible nationalities: Open to EU and EEA nationals
• Applicant must be a regular student at the University of Klagenfurt.
• Applicant must have completed at least 40 ECTS credits during the relevant academic year, with grades ranging from 1 to 4.
• Applicant must have achieved an overall grade point average of 1.5 or better for all ECTS credits acquired during the academic year.
• Applicant must have completed the qualifying academic achievements between 1 October 2025 and 30 September 2026 for the 2025/26 scholarship cycle.
• Applicant must have their academic achievements recorded in the University of Klagenfurt examination records.
• Applicant must meet the applicable nationality or equal-status requirements for the scholarship. Third-country nationals are eligible only if they have equal status with Austrian citizens under the specified conditions.
• Applicant must submit the application through the online student portal during the specified application period.

How to Apply

• Applicant must access the University of Klagenfurt student portal.
• Applicant must navigate to “My applications” → “File new application” and select the application for the Merit-Based Scholarship / Scholarship for Academic Excellence.
• Applicant must complete the online application form and provide the required academic information.
• Applicant must ensure that all relevant examinations and ECTS achievements are correctly recorded in the examination records.
• Applicant must ensure that achievements completed at another university are submitted for recognition in sufficient time.
• Applicant must submit the application online through the student portal by the specified deadline. Late applications are not accepted.
• Applicant will be notified by email of the scholarship decision. For the 2025/26 cycle, the decision is expected by mid-January 2027 at the latest.
