The Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation (LSAMP) program is aimed at students from historically underrepresented populations in the STEM fields, including African Americans, Hispanic Americans, American Indians, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians, and Native Pacific Islanders. To be eligible for participation at San Jose State University (SJSU), students must be pursuing a STEM degree and demonstrate academic interest and potential in these disciplines. LSAMP targets students who are committed to increasing their participation and success in STEM education at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Value/Benefit The LSAMP program provides students with academic support, research opportunities, and specialized workshops aimed at enhancing their success in STEM disciplines. At SJSU, the program specifically supports Academic Excellence Workshops (Sci 1) for Chemistry courses, helping students strengthen their academic skills and improve their performance in challenging STEM subjects.
