The University of Western Australia provides a scholarship to international students who are high-achieving athletes, coaches and officials to commence and pursue an undergraduate or postgraduate qualification at the University.

Eligibility Criteria for UWA Global Sporting Excellence Scholarship

• Applicants must: Be international students (not Australian or New Zealand citizens or permanent residents).
• Have applied for an eligible course at UWA in 2024 (undergraduate or postgraduate by coursework).
• Meet the academic requirement based on their entry score: Undergraduate: minimum ATAR equivalent of 85+.
• Postgraduate: minimum WAM equivalent of 65+.
• Meet the sport criteria (Tier 3 or above of the UWA
• Student Athlete Development Program): Member of a national underage team (e.g., Youth Olympics).
• Member/scholarship holder at WAIS or equivalent.
• National league/professional club player.
• World University Championships/Games team member.
• Accredited coach or official at a national or higher level.
• Register and participate in a UWA-affiliated sporting club (or in a WA state sporting league if an official).
• Be enrolled full-time (exceptions allowed for approved circumstances).
• Hold a valid Australian student visa (subclass 500) or other visa category with study rights.

Application process

• No separate scholarship application required.
• Eligible applicants are automatically considered when applying for an eligible UWA course.
• Attach a Sport CV to your UWA course application (via the UWA Apply portal).
• The selection is based on academic merit and sporting achievement.
• If awarded, the scholarship offer must be accepted within 30 days.
