About the Scholarship

Alumni of Melbourne Law School Professor Zelman Cowen (LLB 1940) was a distinguished public leader and scholar, a World War II veteran, and an exceptionally gifted student from Melbourne.
He was awarded the Rhodes Scholarship to study at Oxford and the Supreme Court Prize.
Later on, he held positions as Chairman of the Vice-Chancellors' Committee, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Queensland, Dean of Melbourne Law School, and Governor General from 1977 to 1982.

Applicants must: be a domestic or international student be admitted to the Melbourne JD at Melbourne Law School.
