This scholarship was established in 2015 and was donated to the University of Sydney by Janet O'Connor to support female students pursuing further degrees in writing or related fields. This fellowship financially supports deserving female students pursuing a master's degree in creative writing or English studies at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.

Eligibility for Janet O'Connor Postgraduate Scholarship

• Applicants must: Be female.
• Have an unconditional offer or be currently enrolled full-time in the first year of the Master of English Studies or Master of Creative Writing.
• Not be transferring from the Graduate Diploma in English Studies or Graduate Diploma in Creative Writing.
• Not hold another University of Sydney scholarship for the same study.

Value of the Scholarship

• A recipient enrolled full-time will receive $10,000 per annum for up to three semesters.
• A recipient who is approved to hold this scholarship on a part-time basis will receive $5,000 per annum for up to six semesters.

Application Process

No separate scholarship application is required. All eligible students are automatically considered.
