This scholarship is awarded to a first-year Doctor or Master of Philosophy Science Physics candidate, who has completed a Master or Bachelor of Science (Honours) at the University of Melbourne in the School of Physics, based on academic merit.

• Applicants must: Complete a Master of Science or Bachelor of Science Honours in the School of Physics, at the University of Melbourne, and Be enrolled in the first year of a Doctor or Master of Philosophy Science research program in the School of Physics, at the University of Melbourne.
• Value of the John Tyndall Scholarship at University of Melbourne 2026: A one-off payment of up to $500.
• The recipient of this scholarship also receives the Dieul-Kurzweil Scholarship, worth around $1000.
