This award advances Jan's love of the arts and William's dedication to education by funding the CSU Summer Arts program and scholarships for visual arts students. There is one $10,000 scholarship available to students for the academic year, with preference given to those enrolled in post-baccalaureate programs that result in high school single-subject teaching credentials in the arts. The yearly scholarship will give a tiny supplementary stipend in addition to covering tuition and fees.

Eligibility for The William and Janet Lahey Art Education and Visual Arts Scholarship at California State University

  • The candidate must hold a bachelor's degree in art or a visual art specialization, be enrolled in one of the following programs, and be enrolled at least half-time at a California State University campus: A post-baccalaureate program leading to a high school single-subject teaching credential in the arts; A Master of Fine Arts program in art or one of the visual arts specialization; or A Master of Arts program in art or one of the visual arts specializations.
  • The candidate must have a minimum CGPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and be in good academic standing.
